Main Description

The following are some recommendations and options for informally representing work orders.

Option: Assign Work-Orders as Objectives/Tasks in the Iteration Plan

See the Iteration Plan Template.

Option: Use a Sign-up Sheet / Whiteboard

Work orders can consist of a publicly posted list of objectives/tasks on a whiteboard, sign-up sheet, or virtual whiteboard (a commonly accessible file or WikiWeb).

Consider including:

  • Task description
  • Assigned To
  • Current status

Option: Use a Work-Assignment Tool

Change requests, such as those provided by Rational ClearQuest, also provide an automated means of making assignments and assessing status.

If your requirements are captured in a requirements database (such as Rational RequisitePro) consider also assigning work and tracking status in the same tool.
