To support project Configuration Status Accounting tasks.
To facilitate product review through defect tracking and reporting tasks.
To ensure that data is 'rolled-up' and reported for the purposes of tracking progress and trends.

Steps

Report on Configuration Status and Defect Trends

Configuration Status Accounting tasks are based on formalized recording and reporting of the status of proposed changes, and the status of the implementation of proposed changes.

Project defect data is reported in accordance with how you have defined your configuration status reporting requirements for the project (this can be accomplished with the products of the Task: Establish CM Policies ).
